How to Draw Numbers in Calligraphy

By Contributor

Calligraphy means "beautiful writing," and it's becoming a popular art form. When someone thinks of calligraphy, they think of the letters of the alphabet, but numbers can be written in calligraphy, too. There are two styles of numbers, but the modern style of calligraphy numbers is explained here.

Write the 0 first. Place the pen on the paper and make a circle. Keep the pen on the paper until you make it back to the start. Make the 1 next. Put the pen on the paper, pull it diagonally to the right, then straight down.

Complete the number 2. Place the pen on the paper, make a semi-circle, then continue pulling the pen down and diagonally you the left, then pull the pen to the right to finish the 2. Write the 3. Put the pen on the paper, make a small semi-circle then a big semi-circle to complete the 3.

Make the 4 next. Place the pen half way down the paper, pull the pen up diagonally to the right, then straight down. Put the pen where the line starts and pull it right to complete the 4. Write the number 5. Place the pen on the paper, pull it to the left, then make a small line down and finish the 5 by making a big semi-circle.

Complete the 6 next. Put the pen on the paper, pulling it down diagonally towards the left, making a circle at the bottom to finish up the 6. Write the number 7. Place the pen on the paper, pull it up to make a small line before pulling it across to the right, then down diagonally to the left.

Write the number 8. Put the pen on the paper and pull it down diagonally towards the right, make a large circle then a small circle to complete the 8. Make the 9. Place the pen on the paper, pulling it around in a circle, then down diagonally to the left to finish the number 9.
