How to Open a Dudley Lock

By Matthew Ferguson
Combination locks only open when the number dials show the correct code.

Aimed primarily at students, Dudley locks feature colorful designs and large, easy to read numbers. Owned and produced by Master Lock, the Standard and LG2 series Dudley locks follow the same procedure for use as the popular Master Lock combination lock. The Standard and LG2 series Dudley lock comes with a prefigured combination. After unlocking the Dudley lock for the first time, place the combination in a safe place.

Set the dial at -0-. Then turn the dial three times to the right, stopping at the first number in the combination sequence.

Turn the dial to the left, passing the first number. Stop at the second number in the combination sequence.

Turn the dial to the right and stop at the third number in the sequence.

Pull the bottom of the Dudley lock away from the shackle to separate the two.
