Most people dream of winning the lottery and ending their financial struggles. Millions of people play the lottery including state lotteries, scratch-offs and large jackpots like Mega Millions and Powerball. For a few lucky souls, winning big in the lottery happens with good old fashioned luck. Yet, if you are feeling lucky today, there are a few strategies you can try to better your odds of winning the big payout.

Pick a game. It's harder to win popular games with larger jackpots like Powerball. Many people play these games and there are more numbers in which to choose. You have better odds of winning small lotteries.

Play the lotto in quantity. Playing more tickets or games increases your chances of winning.

Bet on your own numbers. Review past winning numbers to come up with your own winning combination. This can better the odds of winning the lotto verses using quick pick numbers.

Play the lottery with other people. Start a lotto pool at work or with relatives. Everyone can donate money to buying several lotto tickets at one time. This allows you to increase your odds of winning without having to spend more of your own money. Keep in mind, If one of the tickets wins, you must split the money with the others.

Create a wheeling system. This system rotates the numbers in your pool when playing multiple lottery tickets.
