Whether you're celebrating a birthday, wedding, graduation or the arrival of a baby, asking your friends and family members to sign a guestbook will help you remember your special day long after it's over. Make your own guestbook so you can create a keepsake that reflects your event.

Step 1

Buy a plain scrapbook so you can decorate it to match your party venue decorations.

Step 2

Decorate the front and back to reflect your special occasion. Glue ribbons that match your wedding colors to the guestbook cover, for example, and use an acid-free pen to add your initials and wedding date.

Step 3

Decorate the inside of your guestbook with scrapbook supplies, but leave space for your guests to write their names and messages. Provide your guests with plenty of pens or markers so they all use the same color.

Step 4

Include photos when decorating your guestbook. While this type of guestbook takes more time to create, it works well for such events as family reunions.

Step 5

Set an example for your guests. Ask a couple of close friends or family members to sign the guestbook before the event. Your guests likely will follow their examples.
