Playing games of chance with dice, such as craps, can bring out the cheater in some players. One way to cheat is to play with loaded dice, which are altered so that a particular side will land face up more often than normal. There are several ways to load dice, one of which entails using adding heavy metals such as lead or mercury to the dice. With a little practice, you can make a simple pair of loaded dice using nothing more than your oven.

Pre-heat an oven or toaster oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Place a piece of aluminum foil on an oven tray. This will help the dice from melting onto the tray in case you cook them too long.

Decide which numbers or face of the dice you want to turn up most often. Place the dice onto the oven tray with those numbers face up. If you want to roll a six and a one most often, then place two dice on the tray with the six and the one facing up.

Place the oven tray into the oven for about 10 minutes. The heat from the oven will cause the dice to slowly melt, and the plastic will begin to sag slightly towards the base. The added weight from the pooled plastic will cause the dice to land on that side more often, and cause your number to be face up.

Remove the dice from the oven after 10 minutes. If the change is overly visible, then you have melted them too much. You do not want the dice to look like they've been tampered with. It is a good idea to buy several pairs of dice to practice melting. Your particular oven may be hotter or cooler than others, so practice until you get the timing right.

Allow the dice to cool for several minutes before you pick them up for use.

Things You'll Need:

  • Oven or toaster oven
  • Oven tray
  • Aluminum foil

Tip

Make sure the kitchen is well ventilated before melting the dice in the oven.

Warnings:

  • Using loaded dice in a casino will get you thrown out or possibly arrested, so use your loaded dice only at neighborhood games with your friends, as a gag.
