My FinePix Camera Won't Turn On

Problems with a power source can plague the Fuji FinePix camera. If the camera doesn't turn on properly, the device is not receiving an adequate amount of power or could be experiencing an internal disc drive malfunction. The FinePix uses four NiMH rechargeable AA batteries or alkaline/lithium non-rechargeable batteries. Make sure that the device hasn't been exposed to extreme cold or hot temperatures, which affects the batteries. Also avoid using NiCd batteries. Try to keep the same grade of battery that was issued with the camera.

Reset the FinePix. Remove the batteries and/or A/C adapter from the device. Access the battery cover by turning over the camera and sliding the battery release lock outward. The cover will release. Pull the batteries out and then put back in to reset the FinePix. This will reset the internal hard disk, if it has malfunctioned.

Insert new batteries into the FinePix camera battery terminals. The camera may not turn on if the batteries are low. All four batteries must be new. For example, don't use two new and two old batteries. Check to see that the batteries are inserted correctly; following the polarity icons next to each battery slot. If using rechargeable batteries, the memory feature of the FinePix camera may have drained the batteries. Try to recharge the batteries or insert new rechargeable batteries into the camera.

Charge the FinePix with the A/C adapter. Make sure the adapter is inserted correctly into the power terminal on the right side and into a power outlet. Try plugging the FinePix into another power outlet to verify that the outlet isn't the problem.

Clean the battery terminals if they are soiled. Wipe the terminals clean with a dry, lint-free cloth.
